“Today Fm Are A Big Yellow Shining Lie” – 2FM Boss Lets It All Out

Controversial much?

Sue Murphy

Dan Healy, the new 2fm boss has been dishing out where he hopes the station will go to and how he feels about certain programmes and presenters.

Healy claims that the station will no longer mourn the late Gerry Ryan and will stop dwelling in his legacy, according to the Irish Mirror.

“I think that sadly for 2fm it has to move on from Gerry’s past. It’s very difficult for his family. His brother works beside me, you have to pay respect to that. But I think the station has to respect the Ryan family and his colleagues and we have to go ahead now. I think it’s time to look forward now.”

The station boss also made the announcement that none of the station’s DJ’s would be let go and that Nicky Byrne would definitely not be up for a job.

“We don’t want him,” said Healy. “There will be no more Nicky Byrne because we have great broadcasters.”

Healy was also quite vocal about how he felt about rival station, Today FM: “I don’t want to take any ex-Today FM people like Ray D’Arcy or Ian Dempsey back.I think if you were to go and check their JNLRs, you’ll find it took Ian Dempsey a good old while to recover from leaving 2fm.I think you’ll find Today FM was built on Eamon Dunphy. So no.”

The new 2fm boss also claimed that the station would have a big increase in ratings over the next few months.

“We’re trying to fight with the Dublin stations and with the other national stations. We haven’t had problems with presenters, it’s great music.”
