It’s news to us but the ‘Great Street Award’ is a thing and this year, Oliver Plunkett Street in Cork city is number one.
The Urbanism Awards took place in London today and Oliver Plunkett Street was deemed the winner, after seeing off competition from Liverpool’s Cairns Street and Deptford High Street in London.

A report in The Evening Echo said that there were over 70 Irish and UK streets in contention for the award.
Speaking about the news, the Lord Mayor of Cork, Councillor Chris O’Leary said it was a ““real coup for Oliver Plunkett Street and Cork”.

Having had a couple of trips to Cork before, we’re definitely in agreement with the winning vote.
In fact, we feel a road trip coming on.
