It’s only two days into an advent calendar but you can still get one of these.
We’ve had a lot of advent calendars this year, the gin one, the kinky one, the wine one and most recently a new cheese version. While we’re all for a treat in the days running up to Christmas, there’s a new advent calendar that’s way better than all the rest.
It’s a reverse advent calendar which you can make yourself.
The idea behind it is to put something into a box or bag each day during the advent period in December and at the end of the 24 days you give that box to a local food bank.
The folks over at Metro have suggested some of the things to put in the box:
- Tinned goods – fruit, baked beans, chopped tomatoes, tuna, tinned veg, corned beef etc.
- Toothbrushes and toothpaste
- Hairbrushes
- Shower gel
- Deodorant
- UHT milk
- Christmassy biscuits
- Crisps and other sealed savoury items
- Chocolate and sweets
- Christmas crackers (the ones with jokes in, not Jacobs)
- Cereal
- Pasta
- Rice
- Tea/coffee
- Hats, scarves, gloves
- Books, DVDs
- Meat meals
- Instant mashed potatoes
- Sugar
- Tinned soup
