Vidal Valladares Navas and girlfriend Michelle Wycoff have a special spot.
The only problem is their “special spot” was in the middle of one of the busiest freeways in Texas.
Naturally when Vidal decided to, you know, stand in the way of moving traffic to propose to Michelle, he pissed a lot of people off.
According to the Houston Chronicle Vidal enlisted the help of his friends to drive behind his car and stop traffic at the couple’s spot. He pulled Michelle out of the car with him and got down on bended knee.
He says the place is special as he took Michelle there on their second date. He sounds like a keeper.
A video of the incident posted to Instagram shows angry commuters beeping the couple as they pass. Vidal is being criticized for his actions and the likelihood that an accident could have occurred.
“I never really thought about causing an accident. I thought about my girlfriend,” he said to the Houston Chronicle.
Though Houston Police Department were not called to the scene initially, they said in a statement:
“It appears we were not called to the scene and it more than likely happened quickly before our officers saw it on patrol,” HPD spokesman Victor Senties said.
“While we’re happy for the couple, this is not something we would want to encourage anyone to do. People could have lost their lives stopping on the freeway like that.”
Vidal posted the below image on Instagram, writing:
“When you shut down one of the biggest and busiest freeways in the entire country (I45) and you ask your girl if she wants to marry u, That moment is priceless love u #shesaidyes.”
