Gemma expected some criticism for choosing to appear on the Jeremy Kyle show.
She appeared on a segment called ‘Stop harassing me just because I’m sleeping with your ex,’ in which she told Jeremy that her partner’s ex was harassing her. A clip of the show sees the woman come out and shout at Gemma to ‘go wash her teeth’.
After the show, instead of the predicted backlash, Gemma found that Twitter went into a judgmental overdrive, mocking her for her appearance.
Gemma explains that an accident in her childhood led to her losing her teeth – something she has been bullied for all her life.
The show decided to revisit Gemma and in a clip uploaded on Saturday, Gemma tells producers how the reaction led to her having a breakdown.
She was trolled on Twitter and labelled ‘Tooth Woman’.
The show decided to fund a dramatic makeover for Gemma, and provided her with dental treatment worth over £10,000.
