This disappearing dots picture is wrecking people’s heads

The more you look the more annoying it is.

We just can’t seem to get enough of the optical illusions.

We’ve had our fair share of optical illusions this year. We had the brick wall, the child’s toy and the heart picture. A lot of them you have to find something wrong with a photo or figure out how something is happening in the photo.

But there’s a new one and it will just wreck your head.

It’s called the ‘disappearing dots’. It has a design with boxes and crosses with black dots on some of the points. Most people will only be able to see a few dots at a time when, in fact, there are 12 dots in this picture.

See for yourself:

Will also shared the image to Reddit where one person had an explanation about what was happening. They shared an extract from a piece of research called, “Variations on the Hermann Grid: An Extinction Illusion” which deals with a similar optical illusion.

It says, “When the white disks in a scintillating grid are reduced in size, and outlined in black, they tend to disappear. One sees only a few of them at a time, in clusters which move erratically on the page. Where they are not seen, the grey alleys seem to be continuous, generating grey crossings that are not actually present.”

Still doesn’t help how annoying the picture is.
