Have you ever used your mobile phone on the toilet?

Go on… not even a sneaky, “Cu then” text message?

Well, the truth is out now..

According to a survey, one in three people use their mobile phones in the bathroom with 27 per cent texting while actually on the toilet.

The survey found that “digital addiction” is worst among the younger generation, with 37 per cent of those aged 16-34 using their phones on the toilet, the Irish Sun reports.

The report, carried out by Eircom, also found that 20 per cent of that age group have dropped their mobile phones down the loo.

Our obsession with texting/emailing/Facebooking/keeping in touch doesn’t stop there either…

The survey found that 1.3 million Irish people wish to stay connected 24/7.

This includes one million of us checking our emails first thing in the morning, while over a quarter of a million check work emails on holidays.

And it’s affecting our relationships too…

A fifth of mobile phone users have sneaked a look at their other half’s text messages and, here we go, 38 per cent of us have called or texted somebody we shouldn’t have when we’re drunk.

But our digital addiction could all be becoming a bit too much for us as 28 per cent of people have claimed they are getting sick of social media sites like Facebook and Twitter.

In the last few months, smartphone ownership has risen from 39 per cent to 50 per cent and by the end of this year 1.2 million of us will have access to a tablet.
