There’s a new phone app named Companion and it’s getting a lot of attention.
Designed by five American college students, it is designed to ensure neither you or your friends have to walk home alone.
It’s pretty simple to use too, you simply send a request to another smartphone and once they accept it, you can track their journey via GPS.
We’re aware that the above sounds a bit creepy but considering it allows you to look out for your friends, we’re totally on board with it.
If something happens to the person on the way home, for example if they start running or their headphones are pulled out, a notification will be sent to their phone.
If they don’t respond within 15 seconds, the app will emit loud noises and the friend who’s tracking the phone will be given the option of calling the police.
At the moment, the app is only available in the US but according to reports, it may be introduced to other countries at a later date.
