It seems almost every city in the world has a Humans of New York spin-off Facebook page.
And for that, we are grateful.
The pages allow us a brief insight into the lives of strangers and the expansion of these pages into unvisited countries is a much welcome addition to our newsfeeds.
Humans of Bombay is one particularly successful spin-off
that uses the same conversational style made popular by Brandon Stanton. The portraits of the people of Mumbai are as striking as their parent site.
One of the latest posts has gained momentum online for this woman’s sharp response to an age-old question.
“I’m 70, working, happy and still unmarried.”
“Any particular reason?” asks the photographer.
“No man has been special enough…yet.”
The post is gaining support from commenters who support the woman’s feminist view. Arranged marriages are still very much the norm for women in India and usually occur before the age of 25.
