Career change, anyone?
Choosing a career is one of the hardest decisions and can leave people very confused and indecisive. Especially when you often need to make the decision at just 18 years of age when choosing which college course to do.
Very often the pay differences between some sectors may be a driving force for some people’s career choice and it’s a good place to start if you’re looking for a new career path with high wages.
Today, the Central Statistics Office has outlined the countries best-paid jobs by sector and there are no major surprises about the top earners.
People who work in the Information and Communications sector are the best paid. They have the highest average weekly earnings of €1,063.39.
Next to earn the highest were those in the financial, insurance and real estate sectors who earn on average €1,014.66 per week.
The lowest average weekly earnings were €331.81 in the accommodation and food services sector and in arts, entertainment, recreation and other service activities sector who earn €467.77.
Overall though in this country the average salary has risen to €37,000 in the first three months of 2016.
The average weekly wage, in general, is €703.83 but the divide between public and private sector pay is still very evident with almost €300 in the difference per week. Private sector works earn €644.98 per week on average whereas public earn €905.97.
