No, we’re not talking about STI’s (or pregnancy if you are not that way inclined.)
If you find yourself running to the loo as a matter of some urgency after having unprotected sex, it could be down to your partner’s semen.
Apparently, his swimmers contain a chemical compound called prostaglandins which stimulates cramping and diarrhoea – meaning your steamy session could result in an even steamier toilet bowl.
Sorry.
Speaking to Women’s Health, Teresa Hoffman, M.D., an obstetrician and gynaecologist with ob/gyn group Hoffman and Associates, explained that these prostaglandins cause smooth muscles to contract, and when your intestines contract too quickly, you get diarrhoea.
When your partner ejaculates inside you, these tiny compounds can be absorbed through the vaginal wall and then head towards your colon, where all hell breaks loose.
If the side effects are causing a real problem, Hoffman suggests seeing a doctor in case something else is up, or else “It may just be a matter of not having him ejaculate into your uterus.”
Good to know.
