In a surprise move, the Saturday Night Show presented by Brendan O’Connor will host a debate on homophobia this weekend.
According to an RTE press release, “The Saturday Night Show will host a debate on homophobia; what constitutes homophobia and who gets to define the word?”
Just a few weeks ago RTE issued an apology on the show after Rory O’Neill, the owner of Panti Bar and gay rights activist, suggested that certain public figures were homophobic.
RTE have since received 847 complaints for the apology being issued, the majority of these in the last three days, according to the Journal.
The panel for the debate will be announced before Saturday.

Members Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina will join Brendan on the programme and will discuss their time in prison and why they are still campaigning for change under Putin.
Strictly Come Dancing’s Vincent Simone & Flavia Cacace will chat ahead of their upcoming show Dance ‘Til Dawn and perform a special tango from the show.
