Have a free family day out:

Take advantage of Ireland’s museums and natural areas

When you have a family, it’s always important to spend some quality time together. However, it can be hard (and expensive) trying to find a way to entertain the adults and the children. So what’s a cash-strapped mammy to do?

Why not take advantage of your local parks and museums? Ireland is a country that is absolutely chocked-full of culture and did you know that the vast majoity of our nation’s parks and museums and librarys have free admission?

For example, if you live in Dublin you could take the youngsters to the Natural History Museum or browse the masterpieces in the National Gallery. You could take them to the National Museum to see displays about the Vikings, the Egyptians and Ancient Rome. After that you could take them to the playground in St Stephen’s Green and then maybe in for a bite to eat as a special treat.

It’s the perfect educational and fun day out for the family and you never know, you could even learn something new yourself.

If you don’t live in the captial, don’t worry. There are dozens of great museums and parks dotted around the country.  Visit the Irish Museums Association website by clicking here. This website features a nationwide museum finder, so you can see what’s on offer in your own area. For a list of parks and places to go, check out DiscoverIreland’s website by clicking here.
