Online dating is more popular than ever and according to new research, the best time for this type of dating is fast approaching.
Match.com has revealed that online dating is more popular than ever in the weeks between Chrismas and Valentine’s Day with January 3rd, the prime time for meeting a potential partner online.
Helen Fisher, chief adviser for the site spoke to Glamour about the trend and she has a couple of opinions on why this time of year is so popular for online dating.
Helen said: “Showing up to parties alone and feeling pressure from friends and family—it becomes vividly clear that you don’t have a person in your life.
“And all the hugging and nostalgia of holidays can trigger feelings of attachment—all escalating one’s feelings of being alone, without a partner.”
Online dating can be stressful at the best of times…
She went on to say that the start of a new year can have the same effect and this can also translate to other types of dating too.
“The beginning of the new year is a natural time for rejuvenation and renewal and has been for thousands of years.
“So we naturally begin to look around for a true love”.
