There are so many films on TV on a weekly basis, we thought we would draw your attention to some of the better movies that you can check out from the comfort of your own home. Here are five of the best films that are on TV this week.
1. Blue Valentine, Monday, TG4, 9.30pm
Arguably one of the most depressing and emotional films depicting a couple’s relationship told in flashback from the beginning to their present. Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams play a blinder in this feature, which is literally one of the most heartbreaking and realistic films that made it to the big screen.
2. The Shining, Tuesday, ITV4, 9.30pm
“Oh, I’m gonna hurt you Wendy. I’m just going to bash your brains in.” The Shining is a horror classic. You simply have to check out. That is all.
3. Schindler’s List, Wednesday, ITV4, 9.30pm
Liam Neeson’s performance as Oscar Schindler is simply his best. However, if you haven’t seen this before you really should be prepared, it is distressing in its depiction of the treatment of the Jews during the war. Also Ralph Fiennes. Terrifying and sublime.
4. Shallow Grave, Thursday Film 4, 23.30pm
One of Danny Boyle’s earlier films, Shallow Grave follows the story of three flat mates who discover a fortune in their flatmates room, a flatmate who has conveniently passed away. However, over time, the distrust grows between the three and instead of sharing the money, they are all out for themselves.
5. Titanic, More4, Friday, 19.30
Let’s go back to Leo’s early days when he was just the fresh-faced wonder we all fell in love with as Jack Dawson. Honestly, swoon. This is really one of the ultimate love stories, and despite its critics, it still holds up on viewings.
