Teenager Dies After Being Electrocuted By iPhone In Her Sleep

A teenager has died in her sleep after being electrocuted by her iPhone 4s.

The 18-year-old, who has not been named, died in Xinjiang, China on July 24th.

The victim’s sister smelt burning on returning to the house the two shared together and found her sister in her bedroom with burns across her body.

Experts from the Forensic Science Association of China said the teenager had livor mortis across her neck, hands and leg, and concluded that she’d died from electrocution, according to The China Times.

It has not been confirmed if the woman was using an authentic Apple charger or a counterfeit version.

In July last year, air hostess Ma Ailun, was killed by an electric shock after answering her iPhone5 while it was recharging on a counterfeit charger.

Apple products sell out quickly in China and there are a huge number of oultets selling fake Apple products including iPods, iPads, iPhones and chargers.

In 2011, 22 fake Apple stores were uncovered in the city of Kunming.
