Technical Glitch Lead To Free Travel In London

Imagine this happening with the Leap Cards!

Imagine this happened with the Leap Cards!

People wishing to travel around London on public transport today were able to do so completely free this morning. Not because of a kind gesture from Transport for London, but because of a technical glitch.

The Oyster Card readers (equivalent to our Leap Cards) weren’t working and so people could scan through the barriers and get onto buses without being charged.

The problem began happening at 4:30am but has since been resolved. The glitch happened on the first day of the new fare increases, 1% on average of every journey, which have been introduced.

The BBC revealed that over 100,000 journeys were made during the period, meaning a loss of about £250,000.

What a day to be alive, in London.
