Supernatural Activities, Soap Drama and a Seriously Handsome Secret Agent: The Best of Tonight’s TV

What does Emmerdale, Tom Cruise and a chocolate torte have in common? Well, they're all included in the best of tonight's TV of course!

Rebecca McKnight

Whether you want a bit of good old-fashioned drama, a recipe for the ultimate comfort cake or an entertaining action film, we can tell you where and when to tune in this evening…

Emmerdale – TV3 (7:00pm)

To celebrate its 40th birthday, the soap is putting on an hour-long special this evening which is guaranteed to get more than a few hearts racing. With two weddings, a couple of babies and an unexpected death, this will be one episode that fans won’t be forgetting any time soon.

Rachel Allen’s Cake Diaries – RTÉ One (7:30pm)

In this week’s episode, Rachel Allen is looking at the cakes that serve as the perfect comfort food. As well as almond, banana and honey muffins she also turns her hand to a chocolate torte. Sounds too tasty to resist, if you ask us!

Grand Designs – Channel 4 (9:00pm)

For its 100th episode, Grand Designs takes a look at a project involving a 150-year-old water tower which Leigh Osbourne and Graham Voce want to turn into their ideal home. At the end of it they are hoping to have four bedrooms, nine floors and a 360 degree view of London. Not asking for much then, are they?

Knight and Day – RTÉ One (9:35pm)

It’s pretty silly but it’s also thoroughly entertaining. Tom Cruise plays a secret agent (no surprises there) while Cameron Diaz is an ordinary woman who just happens to get dragged into his mission in this romantic comedy action flick. Like we said, silly but worth the watch!

Switch – ITV2 (10:45pm)

In case you didn’t catch it first time around, ITV2 is showing the first episode of their new supernatural comedy series again tonight. It is based around the lives of four witches in their twenties. Eastenders Lacey Turner and The Inbetweeners actress Hannah Tointon star.
