6-year-old Alex Pring was born without his right arm and was informed by doctors that a prosthetic limb would cost $40,000. However, the family couldn’t afford the amount stated and detailed their plight on a forum.

According to the Daily Mail, Albert Manero, a Central Florida student, came across Alex’s mother’s letter and started to think about how he could help the family.

Manero and his team began work on a 3D printer hand. One of the biggest commercial 3D printer companies in the country donated some of the supplies.

The limb took seven weeks for the team to make in their spare time and cost them a total of $350.

Little Alex was, of course, delighted with his new arm: “I feel good,” Alex told reporters. “I feel everything good, even my robot arm. It’s not even heavy.”

“My mother taught us that we’re supposed to help change the world,” Manero said. “We’re supposed to help make it better. That’s why we did it. The look on Alex’s face when he used it for the first time was priceless.”
