There are so many films on over the Christmas period that we thought we might help you out and pick some of the best from across the important days. Mainly the days that you will be at home and stuck in front of a television screen. Here are some of our favourites.
1. The Red Shoes, BBC2, 8.50am
Often listed as one of the beautiful films to hit the screen and certainly one of Scorsese’s personal favourites, the Red Shoes follows the story of a ballerina who is torn between her career and the man she loves.
2. White Christmas, TV3, 1pm
It was the film that featured that amazing Christmas classic from Bing Crosby and is pretty much one of those films that you have to watch every year. The story revolves around a successful duo who become romantically involved with a sister act.
3. Toy Story 3, BBC1
You may need to get the tissues out for this one. The final film in the Toy Story trilogy sees the beginning of new friendships, a break with the old and a new beginning for our treasured on screen toy friends.
4. Tangled, UTV, 3.20pm
A new Disney film with a very classic feel, Tangled gives an alternative take on the wonderful classic tale, Rapunzel.
5. Big Fish, Film 4, 4.50pm
A son returns home when his father is dying and tries to discover more about his life, but in order to understand the man, he must relive all of the stories his father told. This will have you in tears. An inredibly sweet film and certainly one to watch.
6. Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, 6.15pm
We gave a fair shout to Home Alone in our Christmas films to it’s only fair that we feature Home Alone 2 here which is just as good as the original. Poor Kevin now finds himself lost in New York, but of course, runs into some old friends.
7. Ted, Sky Movies Comedy, 8pm
Seth McFarlane’s name is enough to bring absolute comedy gold and Ted is the perfect example of that. Starring Mark Wahlberg, the film tells the strange story of a man who has a talking bear as his best friend. Of course.
8. Iron Man, Film 4, 9pm
Time to go back to where it all began. Iron Man is the first in the series that features one of the best Avengers heroes to make it to the silver screen. Oh, and there’s Robert Downey Jr.
9. The Dark Knight, RTE2, 9.25pm
Basically, Christmas Day can now be called Superhero Day nationwide. The Dark Knight, the wonderful Nolan sequel to Batman Begins continues the superhero’s adventure, this time with a new villain, the Joker.

10. Avengers Assemble, Sky Movies Action, 10pm.
That perfect moment where everything combined. The Avengers combine their strength and power to deal with a hated enemy, Loki of Asgard. Script, cast and story are just brilliant.
11. Bridesmaids, RTE1, 10.05pm
Arguably the pick of the bunch today, Bridesmaids is the 2011 classic which was one of the first films to really GET female characters. Kristen Wiig, we salute you.
