So Who’s The Most Hated Person In The Office? Survey Reveals Workers’ Biggest Bugbears

Ohhh, it's all coming out now...

Office colleagues can annoy, we’re just putting it out there. They’ll send emails, even though they could just lift their heads and speak to you, they leave dirty plates on their desk and they’ll leave the bathroom in a state…

Work colleague relationships are complex. If you think about it, you never actually chose to spend this much time with these people.

A survey of more than 2,000 people reveals the most irritating habits of office workers.

Annoyances included arriving late in the morning and late for meetings (this topped the report), taking regular cigarette breaks, gossiping about other workers, openly talking about confidential work matters and bringing their children into the office, the Daily Mail reports.

The report, carried out by the Institute of Leadership and Management in the UK, also included the use of “management speak” which many described as a “pointless irritation”. The worst clichés included “thinking outside the box”, “let’s go forward” and “let’s touch base”.

Other sources of fury included tea rounds, with many being resentful of the fact that their manager never goes to buy teas and coffees for them.

Hands up who offers to do the tea round…

Fifty-six per cent of the workers said it annoyed them when colleagues send them an email… despite sitting on the opposite side of the desk.

A recommendation on the report advised workers to avoid using email too much as it can be impersonal and the tone can be mistaken.
