Six Simple Ways To Give Your Hands The TLC Treatment In Winter

Her

When it comes to looking after our hands during the cold winter months, a few simple habits can make a huge difference.

With thanks to Perfectil, we’re bringing you six simple ways to give your hands the TLC treatment this winter.

1. Invest in a decent hand cream

Keeping your hands moisturised should be priority number one during the winter months. Always moisturise first thing in the morning and before bed. Keep a portable tube in your bag, in the car or on your desk to make sure you’re keeping that moisture topped up throughout the day.

8. Moisturiser: Why not treat your partner to a sensual massage? You don’t need any fancy oils or lotions, simply use your favourite body moisturiser – it’ll feel the exact same as a proper massage lotion only this one will give you some super-soft hands and your man a super-soft back. Win/win situation? We think so!

2. Keep them cosy

Mittens and gloves should be your go-to winter accessories. Don’t leave the house without them! Once the temperatures take a dip, popping on a pair of cosy gloves will go a long way to protecting your hands from the harsh cold weather. For maximum protection, slip them on just after you’ve moisturised. Your hands will thank you in the long run!

3. Make sure you’re using a mild soap

Pay attention to the type of soap you’re using during the winter months to avoid drying out your hands. Choose a mild soap that’s gentle on the skin, particularly for the one you’re using beside the kitchen sink. Use warm not hot water when you’re washing your hands, pat your hands dry and apply your moisturiser straight away. The perfect formula for keeping your hands soft and supple.

4. Deck yourself out with rubber gloves

Embrace your inner housewife and get yourself a pair of rubber gloves for doing the washing up. Overexposure to hot water and chemicals can strip skin of its natural oils making them look dry and chapped.

5. Take care of your cuticles

Keep a little bottle of cuticle oil beside your bed and massage it into the base of your nails before you go to sleep. This simple trick will help to nourish and condition your nails overnight. A really simple habit that can make a huge difference. To help ensure your nails and hands are getting the nourishment they need during the colder month, adding a supplement to your diet can make all the difference.

6. Indulge in a weekly pamper session

A home-made hand mask is a really simple way to give your hands a serious dose of TLC. Simply massage a couple of teaspoons of whatever oil you have in the house (eg. olive oil, castor oil, coconut oil), pop on a pair of rubber gloves and leave to soak in overnight. You’ll wake up the next morning with beautifully nourished and soft hands. Magic!
