A source close to Simon Cowell has revealed that the music mogul is going to axe the X Factor after next year’s series.
The show, which is currently in its ninth run, has been riddled with criticism this year from rumours of fixing to bullying claims and of course the falling ratings which seem to get worse every year.
Sinitta and Simon have remained close friends after they ended their romance.
And now it seems that Simon has said enough is enough as his former flame Sinitta is claiming that the tenth series will be the last. She told reporters: “I’m told next year is going to be the last. It’ll have been 10 years.”
However a show insider has contradicted her statements, insisting that there are no such plans: “There are no plans for it to end. It is one of the most successful shows in Britain,” they explained.
Despite talented Ella and the other singers, the show’s figures have fallen again.
The programme’s current deal with ITV is due to end next year but apparently talks for a new contract have been planned for after Christmas. This means that either way, the future of X Factor won’t be decided for at least another few months.
