Showcasing Ireland’s Hidden Gems – The Glen of Aherlow

Planning a road-trip?

Cathy Donohue

You’ve probably heard the phrase “it’s a lovely country if only we could put a roof on it” a number of times because let’s face it, the rain is never far away in Ireland.

Despite the rather unpredictable weather, there’s plenty of hidden gems in various locations around the country.

This week, we’re recommending you make it your mission to see the Glen of Aherlow.

You’ll find this valley between Slievenamuck and the Galtee Mountains (near Tipperary town) and there are some stunning views here.

Sixteen miles of beautiful countryside is pretty impressive when all is said and done so if you’re in the vicinity, it’s well worth a visit.

It’s the perfect option for a day trip but if you’d rather make a weekend of it, there’s plenty of accommodation options with hotels, caravans and camping facilities.
