Science Proves This Simple Gesture Is The Most Effective Way Of Making Someone Feel Loved

Can you feel the love tonight?

Move over Shakespeare, and leave the Whatsapp kissing face emoji at the door.

While we’ve moved past the times of classic love letters, a quick text doesn’t cut it anymore to show your real affections.

A new study from the journal Computers in Human Behaviour found that sending a romantic email can make your partner feel more appreciated and valued than a text message or voicemail.

Researchers tracked the communications of 72 college students in relationships, asking half to send text messages and the other half to send romantic e-mails to their other halves.

So how much difference does an e-mail make?

Surprisingly enough, the researchers found that those who sent romantic e-mails felt more connected to their other half.

The study listed stronger, more thoughtful language as an advantage of the modern love note, citing the general conversation of voicemails as sometimes “throwaway” and less personal.

Examining the language of the messages, the findings also proved that people add more positivity and warmth to written messages to make up for a lack of vocal tone.

The senders also admitted that they took more time in preparing the messages sent by email, sending out carefully scripted emails… rather than a quick text before falling asleep in bed.

So want to show some extra TLC?

Why not take five minutes out of your lunch break to drop a quick line to your other half.

Just  make sure it’s to an email they regularly check or you could end up feeling more irritated than loved-up.
