The start of a relationship can be tricky.

You want to be perfect, to create the ultimate flirtation and be adored while challenged.

You probably also see the person as an incredibly exciting individual that you want to impress at all times.

So it’s natural that when it comes to bodily functions, such as farting, that you might be slightly embarrassed.

Yes, it’s perfectly natural and you know everyone does it, but you’d prefer to pass over the little thunder clap without any recognition.

While it’s probably best to keep talking as if nothing happened, a new study by mic states most people believe you should wait for 2 – 6 months before farting in front of a prospective new partner.

According to the study, ‘if you’re having regular sleepovers, you’ve probably broken the barrier’.

(In fairness, if we can drool in our sleep and snore through the night, a small bodily function is probably the last thing we’re going to worry about)

However, spare a thought for the more anxious participants of the study, which found that 9.3% of people would rather wait a full year before passing wind.

While some respondents wait for a significant milestone to start tooting, a significant portion (19%) admitted they would only fart in a relationship once they’ve heard their partner fart.

While it’s all about finding your own personal comfort level, we’re pretty sure if you’re other half is prepared to give you grief over being human, it’s probably not worth it…
