Supermarkets and off-licences in Galway city have imposed a ban on selling alcohol until 3pm today.
The Connacht Tribune reports that the measure was taken in order to cut down on “anti-social behaviour”.
It’s believed that the supermarkets and off-licences have entered into the agreement of their own accord and liaised with Gardaí to ensure the process runs smoothly.
It’s thought that this will allow for a “family friendly” celebration and with the parade due to finish by 3pm, normal terms will resume.
