In what was a jam-packed weekend of camogie action, it was truly the clash of the titans as, in a replay of last year’s All-Ireland camogie championship final, Cork and Kilkenny went head-to-head in the Irish Daily star camogie league.
All-Ireland champions Cork faced off to the 2014 League champions Kilkenny and it was Cork who showed their mettle as they eked out a 0-9 to 0-5 win over the Cats.
The game has certainly teed the League up for some extremely interesting clashes in the weeks to come.
Elsewhere, Dublin notched an impressive win over Clare as, after a cracking display that saw the sides tied on 0-6 apiece at the break, the Dubs held firm to ease ahead by two points at the final whistle, 1-13 to 1-11 to bag their second win of the League.
Meanwhile, it was two goals that earned Wexford victory over Offaly, as Áine Leacy and Jackie Quigley hit the net to secure their side a 2-5 to 0-8 win.
Limerick bagged a 1-14 to 1-7 win over Tipperary, with Niamh Mulcahy on flying form for Limerick, notching an impressive 10 points of her side’s tally.
In Division 2, Laois and Galway continued to dominate Group One with wins over Antrim (5-8 to 3-6) and Westmeath (4-7 to 0-8) respectively while Kildare drove to an impressive 3-13 to 0-6 win over Wexford.
Meanwhile in Group 2, Waterford had a point to spare over Cork (1-9 to 1-8) as did Meath in their clash with Down (2-14 to 3-9). Kilkenny remain top of the group ahead of next weekend, with a solid 3-14 to 0-4 win over Tipperary.
In Division 3, Dublin overcame Armagh 2-10 to 0-4, while Limerick and Roscommon had to share the spoils, 2-8 to 1-11.
