Ronan Keating says he loves Mel B’s straight-forward manner and bitchiness as an ‘X-Factor’ judge and believes the shows will be too boring without her.

The Irish singer is a panellist alongside Scary Spice on the Australian version of the programme and is surprised at the backlash against the Spice Girl after her guest role on the ITV1 hit show on Saturday.

The singer said; “She’s just being honest and we love that about Mel. And that’s why she should be on the panel. You need those sort of comments.

“I know Mel pretty well and she’s never shocked me. It’d be boring if all of us were the same.”

Meanwhile, the UK media’s watchdogs Ofcom revealed they had received 31 complaints about the kick-off show on Saturday evening.

Mel B featured as a guest judge on Saturday night’s show.

They included protests about Mel’s behaviour, claims that Pink impersonator Zoe Alexander was “mis-represented” and anger at the use of “patronising” music.

Mel B certainly lived up to her Spice Girl nickname on the show as she was brutally honest with the audition’s singers, telling one elderly man, who claimed to be the show’s oldest-ever contestant, that she “felt like falling asleep” during his performance.

The producers have reportedly offered Mel B a job on the UK’s ‘X-Factor’, if she quits the Australian version of the show. The Saturday night show had the lowest viewing figures for an opening episode since 2006.

We’ll admit it, we’re going to miss her on the show!
