It’s been announced that Ray Foley and co-host JP Gilbourne will cease to present on 98FM from early January.
Ray, who came from Today FM three years ago to host the flagship 98FM breakfast show, along with JP Gilbourne, announced the news on Twitter.
Happy & sad to say we’re leaving 98 early mornings from January. We can FINALLY talk about it tomorrow morning, but it’s all good!

Ray, who is known for presenting the Irish version of Take Me Out on TV3, issued the tweets on his personal account just moments ago.
My mam’s immediate reaction: “What about JP?” I will always love him.

The popular radio host can regularly be seen on TV3 hosting The Seven O’Clock Show, and the Saturday morning show Saturday AM.
It is not yet known who will replace the broadcasting stalwart. The news comes in the wake of The Ray Foley Show being awarded a PPI for ‘Naked Breakfast’, the first ever Irish all live radio broadcast.
98FM has released a statement saying that Ray, “plans to concentrate on his TV work and other plans in the New Year.”
They also added a note about the new show which will start in January:
“’98FM’s Big Breakfast’ will continue to focus on playing the great music our listeners love and we will be announcing full details of that in the New Year.”
