It’s being reported to that the famous Rovers Return, central to approximately half of all scenes in beloved soap Coronation Street, is set to go up in flames.
The iconic bar, behind which stood such characters as Bet Gilroy, Vera and Jack Duckworth and Raquel Watts, will be torched in a blaze that kills one of the street’s most well-known faces, Sunita Alahan.
The rumour mill has it that Sunita will set fire to the famous pub after her boyfriend Karl goes back to he arms of current Rovers landlady Stella Price.
Representatives for the soap have refused to comment on the storyline, but it’s believed to allow for both actress Shobna Gulati’s desire to leave the show and a new set build, as the soap is moving to new studios.
The dramatic scenes are set to air in the spring.
