Get out your hats, scarves and gloves ladies and wrap yourselves up as temperatures are set to plummet this weekend, with lows of -2 predicted in some places.
Weather forecasters have predicted sleet and snow showers in the north of the country on Friday night. Although conditions will be mild throughout the day on Saturday, temperatures are going to drop once more on Saturday evening, with conditions forecast to deteriorate as the night progresses.
“Frost and some icy stretches develop, with lowest temperatures of -2 to +4 degrees, values at their lowest in the east,” reads the forecast. “Some mist and fog in patches too.”
It’s Sunday when the cold snap really hits though as forecasters have predicted that snow is most likely to hit on Sunday. Hail and sleet showers will take place in the morning, with snow on western and northern hills.
Temperatures will rise again on Monday, but are set to drop once more as the week progresses.
With conditions set to deteriorate this weekend, particularly after nightfall, as always take extra caution when out and about, particularly on the roads.
