The thought of an animal abandoned and unloved makes us all want to weep here in the Her.ie office, so when we saw this lovely story about Rusty we nearly cried tears of joy.
According to the Huffington Post, Rusty was almost put down in 2008 but now he’s an old friend to the residents of Toulon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Toulon, Ill.
Rusty has been a friend to the residents for past six years after the administrator Sue VanDeRostyne found him wandering around in her back garden.
These pictures are just amazing.
“[Rusty] gets called so many different names because people who have had dogs in the past call him ‘Brownie’ or ‘Missy,'” VanDeRostyne commented. “He’ll go over to them, he’ll come and walk right over to the wheelchair and will stay until they’re done petting him.”
