A receipt from a North Carolina diner has gone viral after customers spotted a very unusual discount on their bill.
If you like to say prayers before meals, you’ll find yourself very welcome Mary’s Gourmet Diner in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, as owner Mary Haglund offers a fairly hefty 15 per cent discount for those who don’t mind “praying in public”.
The receipt was originally shared on the Facebook page of Z88.3, a broadcast and media production company on Thursday.
Speaking to The Blaze on Friday, Mary confirmed the offer was legitimate and had been her practice for the past four years. She said: “For me, every plate of food is a gift,” she explained. “And I never take that for granted and when I see someone in a restaurant honoring their gratefulness at my table … it touches my heart.”
Mary, 60, said that her discount has no specific religious perspective and is not advertised.
