In recent years the subject of colour coding toys for girls and boys has reared its head many times particularly during the Christmas season.
When is comes to equality of the sexes it seems that Lego had a great grasp of it forty years ago.
An image, which shows the Danish company addressing parents, was uploaded to picturing sharing site imgur on Saturday morning with the caption ‘70s Lego had the right idea’.
According to the imgur user fryd, the letter was placed inside a box of Lego dating back to 1973 and carried a very important message.

The letter reads in full:
To Parents
The urge to create is equally strong in all children. Boys and girls.
It’s the imagination that counts. Not skill. You build whatever comes into your head, the way you want it. A bed or a truck. A dolls house or a spaceship.
A lot of boys like dolls houses. They’re more human than spaceships. A lot of girls prefer spaceships. They’re more exciting than dolls houses.
The most important thing is to put the right material in their hands and let them create whatever appeals to them.
The post has since gone viral for all of the right reasons.
