The Irish Times Social and Personal column has played host to many special engagement notices over the years, but this one may leave you feeling extra warm and fuzzy.
Sunday Times News Editor Colin Coyle spotted one notice amongst the many and took to Twitter to ask if this particular notice was a record.
First gay engagement notice I’ve seen in Irish Times Social & Personal column. Is this a record etc? pic.twitter.com/JXW9ARhsaQ

The announcement reads:
Leo O’Shaughnessy
Mark Kinsella
It is with delight that Charles and Kate O’Shaughnessy of Foxrock, announce the engagement of their eldest son Leo to Mark, youngest son of Yvonne and the late Clem Kinsella of Blanchardstown Village.
The announcement was met with a wave of warm sentiment on the social networking site, coming as it does mere weeks after Ireland voted overwhelmingly to legalise gay marriage. Ireland is the first country to implement gay marriage by public vote.
As for the grooms-to-be? Leo responded to say “It’s certainly a record for us”
Huge congrats to the happy couple.
Well I guess there’s no backing out now… ? @Markkipper pic.twitter.com/sfwgYz73rX
