PICTURE: One Groom-to-Be is Looking a Little Uncomfortable in Dublin Today

That's not something you see every Saturday afternoon...

Rebecca McKnight

This one is for all the ladies once forced to wear L-plates and carry a willy straw. You had it easy.

The stag and hen are two of friendship’s greatest traditions. Sending your pals on their merry way to married life, but only after a blowout party to celebrate their “last days of freedom”. (Ok, so that last bit is hideously outdated, but it’s an excuse for a great weekend so we’ll take it.)

For us girls, the hen can go from one preening and pampering extreme to an adrenaline-filled other, but the general point of the weekend is to make sure the lady at the centre of it all is truly feeling the love – even if she’s forced to fulfil the odd dodgy dare.

At the risk of generalisation, that’s not always the case on a stag weekend.

Journalist Katie Mythen (who works with our lovely sister HerFamily.ie) spotted this poor chap just “hanging out” in the capital this afternoon.
