Haley O’ Sullivan, the Rose of Tralee, took the coveted title on Tuesday night in front of hundreds of thousands of viewers.
However, there was something else the eagle-eyed TV audience spotted that was more than a little strange.
For the winner of the Escort of the Year, one of the prizes was some beautiful Newbridge cutlery that would have a name engraved on it, which was displayed on Monday evening. However, Newbridge seemed to have engraved a name that would be fairly signicant 24 hours later when the winner would be announced, none other than O’Sullivan.
Newbridge have stated that the entire affair is just a coincidence and that the prize wasn’t actually for the Rose herself, but for her Escort.
