PICS: Looks Like Our White Irish Christmas Dreams Have Come Early

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

Megan Cassidy

Looks like our dreams of a White Christmas have come true, if a couple of weeks early.

Images and footage from the around the country captured the snowfall which started last night without much warning.

Areas around the country, particularly in the North including Tyrone and Antrim have been covered in a blanket of white.

While flooding has dominated the headlines in the past few days, it looks like snow could be making more of an appearance in the coming days.

If you haven’t witnessed any snowflakes yet, don’t worry – sleet and some snowfall is predicted for Munster, Connaught and the Midlands over the weekend, however it is unlikely to stick due to heavy rain.

Meanwhile, the forecast for today is showery, with the weather only set to deteriorate as the weekend continues.

Warnings of flood risks have been issued in areas including the Shannon catchment.
