When it comes to a kill count in fiction, no one is quite as ruthless as George R.R. Martin.
Fans of the Song of Ice and Fire series of books and Game of Thrones on HBO will only be fully aware of the amount of characters that get the gruesome chop.
One person has gone through the books page-by-page and bookmarked everytime a death has occurred – It’s kind-of depressing the more we look at it…

According to the fansite asoiaf.westeros.org, there are about 284 deaths in the books (so far). So basically, don’t get attached to anyone.
