We’re sure we’re not the only ladies in Ireland who breathed a sigh of relief last night when the Strictly Come Dancing judges all voted for Nicky Byrne to stay in the competition for another week.
The former Westlife star and his dance partner Karen Hauer found themselves in the bottom two yet again, meaning they had to perform their Argentine Tango for a second time this weekend. (Not that we’re complaining about having to watch Nicky dancing seductively in a suit.)
Nicky impressed the judges with his second Argentine Tango.
Nicky and Karen were up against England cricketer Michael Vaughan and his dance partner Natalie Lowe who were dancing the samba. In case you haven’t seen the show, the sportsman isn’t exactly gifted when it comes to the Latin dances.
This certainly showed in the voting as Len Goodman, Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood all saved Nicky, sending Michael home.
Michael is the latest contestant to leave the dance competition.
Speaking about his time on the show, he said: “I’ve had a ball. Nine weeks ago I had never been on a shiny floor, and I’ve got to December… everything about this show, the judges, and everyone backstage, all the contestants have been great. I’ve got new friends that I’ve made for life.”
There are now six celebrities left in the competition including Olympian Louis Smith, actress and presenter Denise Van Outen and former Emmerdale star Lisa Riley. But let’s face it, we’ve got our hearts set on an Irish winner!
