Woah this is pretty damn bad.
A Californian high school has been forced to launch and investigation after the
School yearbook mistakenly published a photo of a Muslim student and identified her as “Isis Phillips.” The student’s actual name is Bayan Zehlif and while the school is maintaining the print was an error, many students believe it to be racial discrimination.
Bayan tweeted the image and it has gained a massive reaction.
I guess I’m Isis in the yearbook… pic.twitter.com/hMc0dVu8dM

The school’s principal Susan Petrocelli also tweeted claiming it was a mere mistake.
LOHS is taking every step possible to correct & investigate a regrettable misprint discovered in the yearbook. We sincerely apologize.

The yearbook staff was then forced to clarify on Twitter.

They released a statement saying they are working to rectify the situation.
Principal Petrocelli claimed there was a student named Isis Phillips in the school previously but that they are still investigating the matter.
“If there is a student that has responsibly and intentionally committed this, we will take the appropriate action that is necessary,” she said to Islamic Monthly.
Still, Twitter users are horrified that such a mistake could occur.
@LosOsosHigh so that’s your official statement? It’s a ‘mis-print?’

@LosOsosYearbook if you really try to make this out to be some random mistake, then you are still failing to keep your students safe.

This was deliberate. You don’t mistake “Bayan” for “Isis”. You just don’t. Shame on the person responsible for this….

@LosOsosHigh What the fuck is wrong with you? That’s pure racism.

@LosOsosHigh We live in an era where schools can electronically ✔️ plagiarism, grammar, etc. This is a failure of leadership, on your watch!

@LosOsosYearbook If you misspelled the kid’s name, it would be a mistake. This is negligence &racism. You should be ashamed.
