The 2016 Christmas advert from John Lewis was released this morning. It stars Buster the boxer and his owners on Christmas Eve and Christmas morning.
In it, a trampoline gets assembled in the back yard by the dad and is visited by some animals who test it out before Buster or his owner can.

It’s getting mixed reviews, with people suggesting it’s not as good as previous years. But, of all the complaints about it, there is one that a lot of parents have in common. They believe that the advert confirms Santa isn’t real.
One person commented on the YouTube video, “Err, thanks for suggesting that parents buy Xmas presents and not Santa JL. Not great,” while another said, “Is the world forgetting the whole magic of Christmas? This add will ruin it for children who believe in Santa clause etc.. good add but I fear if kids see it it will just ruin Christmas for them!”
Another person commented on the video when our friends over on JOE.ie shared it saying, “Watched this with my 9 year old. Sorry now. Belief in Santa’s existence seriously undermined by this Ad.”
Another person also said, “Wouldn’t be showing this to my kids in a hurry. I’d have a lot of explaining to do.”
