Last week the internet was introduced to “Papaw”,” who quickly became known as the sad grandfather.
An image of Papaw went viral when his granddaughter Kelsey tweeted the photo saying that she was the only grandchild that showed up to dinner, despite Papaw making 12 burgers.
Papaw’s real name is Kenny Harmon and he’s a grandfather to six. The Daily Mail Online were so moved by Papaw that they decided to reunite all six grandchildren Kelsey, 19, Kaleb, 21, Brock, 20, Brody, 18, Brandon, 17 and youngest Bryn, age 12.
Papaw also clarified that he wasn’t as sad as the image made him out. Speaking exclusively to The Mail he said:
“I wasn’t like the picture showed, I have a solemn look sometimes, people say I don’t smile enough, but it’s my personality,” he said with a twinkle in his eye.
“When I have a cook out everybody is invited and it was mainly because of Kelsey being out of school.
“It was gonna be burger night, a get together with the grandkids. I wanted everybody to be there but I don’t get upset about things.”
He’s also hosting a cook-out this weekend to thank everyone for their support.
