The office Christmas party.
An excuse to let your hair down, enjoy a tipple with your work colleagues and relax.
But beware, a few glasses of wine and, all of a sudden, you’re looking through rose-tinted glasses. And this could lead to a few awkward moments…
Around 60 per cent of us get tipsy (or more) at our office do. According to new research, a tenth of us go on to do something we regret.
The survey, by lastminute.com, also revealed that just over a quarter of those (27 per cent) who regret their actions admitted to sleeping with a senior colleague. Another quarter (25 per cent) admitted to kissing one.
It might all seem like fun and games, but apparently Christmas parties are the cause of millions of euro in lost productivity, with many people arriving hungover to work the next day (37 per cent), late (16 per cent) and others pulling sickies to cut their post-Christmas party day at work short.

Another glass? Maybe I’ll reconsider…
The insight into people’s regrets from the night before include ranting about or at a colleague, spreading gossip, sleeping with a junior colleague or revealing secret feelings for a workmate.
And it gets worse…
Separate research has revealed that one in 10 workers have been disciplined for their behaviour at the work Christmas party, with almost half (46 per cent) admitting it was for ill-advised romantic or sexual activity.
