We all have a special woman in our lives: it might be your mother, sister, aunt, cousin or a friend.
Chances are you don’t see them every day but they are always at the end of the phone when you need them, and this person always seems to know the right thing to say, no matter what the situation.
This week, our real woman is Amy McNevin.
Amy was nominated by her friend Hannah Boylan who tells us, in her own words, why Amy deserves to win.
“I’d like to nominate one of my oldest friends Amy McNevin. Amy is the most selfless person I’ve ever met in my entire life. She is fiercely loyal to the people in her life and her family and friends come first.”
“I met her when we started secondary school and we were pals the whole way through those six years. After school our lives took different directions and we drifted apart. We became close once again when she was expecting her little boy Culann.”
“She found out she was pregnant while studying to be a psychiatric nurse and although study is on hold for the moment while she raises her son, she will go back to finish because once she sets her mind to something she does it.”

Amy is this week’s real woman and winner of a €100 Littlewoods Ireland Voucher
“She works as a carer and it’s the most perfectly suited career for her due to her empathetic nature.”
“Her fiancé is in the army and can be away for long periods of time but she never once complains, she merely takes it as an opportunity to cherish the time they do have together as a family.”
“Amy gives all of herself to her family, her friends and even strangers she’s never met so I’d love it if Littlewoods Ireland and Her.ie could give a little something to her by naming her their Real Woman of the Week.”
We hope Ciara enjoys her €100 voucher, and if you have someone in mind for our Real Woman Of The Week please get in touch.
Readers should submit their entries to info@her.ie and should also include an image of their nominated woman.
Maybe it’s your sister who is studying hard for exams while juggling childcare, or a neighbour who cares for their elderly parents.
It could be your Mam who is always there with encouraging words no matter how many times you fall or a friend who always makes you laugh, even when things seem bleaker than ever before.
Whoever it is, we want to hear from you!
