Know any community groups or voluntary organisations with a passion for reading that could benefit a new library?
Bord Gáis Energy is planning to donate libraries to groups nationwide as part of their commitment to promote books and reading across Ireland.
Their Donate a Library campaign is to be launched in a few days on November 11th and they’re looking to give the Irish public the chance to nominate a local organisation who would benefit a new library worth €1500.
“The feedback we’ve received so far demonstrates that there are many groups across the country that would welcome the positive influence that books and reading can bring to an organisation” said Books and Reading Sponsorship Programme Manager at Bord Gáis Energy, Emma Walsh.
The programme was first launched in the spring and invites voluntary, community and charitable/not-for-profit organisations to apply for one of three libraries each year through the Bord Gáis Energy Book Club.
Dunfanaghy Family Resource Centre in Donegal was the first organisation to be awarded with a library.
“It has made a real positive impact on all our members who really enjoy using it” said the centre’s project co-ordinator Jean McLoughlin .
“We are already planning to build and grow our library over the next few years”.
Nomination forms are available from www.brd.gs/Donatealibrary from November 11th until December 6th, 2013.
