Nobody Nose: Your Sense Of Smell Can Predict When You Die

*Sniff sniff*

Her

Can you smell that?!

Research shows that your nostrils may be able to predict your time of death. Yes folks, your nose is more useful that first thought.

A studied carried out by the University of Chicago has shown that those who had poor to no sense of smell were more likely to die.

During the tests, which were carried out on 3,000 adults between the ages of 57 and 85, people had to identify a list of odours.

People were asked to smell; peppermint, fish, orange, rose and leather and 39 per cent of those with the worst sense of smell were dead within five years.

The loss of smell is a “harbinger, an early warning system that shows damage may have been done”, lead researcher Professor Jayant Pinto explained.

Adding: “Our findings could provide a useful clinical test, a quick inexpensive way to identify patients most at risk”.

We’re not entirely sure what to make of the latest findings but we’ve got Nirvana’s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ on repeat.
