Next Year Might Be Seen as Unlucky By Some But Not For the Big Screen

It's the beginning of a new year and what a year it is going to be. Well, that is if the film releases are anything to go by!

Rebecca McKnight

Last year raised the bar in terms of film and while we can’t say just yet whether this lot are going to surpass the standard set by Silver Linings Playbook and many others, we can say that it looks like it will be close.

Here are the films you’ll want to watch out for this year…

Les Misérables

Hugh Jackman, Amanda Seyfried, Anne Hathaway and Russell Crowe star in this musical epic about a man on the run who decides to take care of a factory worker’s daughter.

Gangster Squad

A detective sets up a squad of men to take down gangsters in LA. As if that’s not enough, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone are in it!

Iron Man 3

Robert Downey Junior will be back to reprise his role as the self-made superhero but this time, it looks like he might have met his match.

Django Unchained

We have come to expect great things from Quentin Tarantino and his latest, about a slave-turned-bounty-hunter who sets out to rescue his wife, is no different.

Zero Dark Thirty

Kathryn Bigelow really gave herself a challenge of following up The Hurt Locker which bagged her an Oscar in 2010. However this movie which chronicles the hunt for Osama bin Laden does look equally good.

The Great Gatsby

F Scott Fitzgerald’s novel became a classic and we have a feeling that Baz Luhrman’s big screen version might just follow suit.

Oz: The Great and the Powerful

It’s a story full of flying creatures, wild adventures and incredible spells. And it also stars James Franco which means it gets bonus points!

Carrie

The 1976 film has gotten a makeover and a new cast but still looks scary as anything. Might need to buy a giant cushion for the release of this one.

Man of Steel

With every year comes a new film for the superhero genre. This time it’s the man with the red cape. Christopher Nolan is one of the producers which means we have high hopes.

Oblivion

The year just wouldn’t be complete without a Tom Cruise action flick. It’s a little more futuristic than his last few but it still seems to tick all the boxes.

Believe it or not but that’s just a few of them!
