Robin Askwith, famous for his role in the 1970s Confessions Of films, is the latest name to join Coronation Street.
The actor will play Ritchie, a veteran rocker and old friend of Dennis Tanner.
Ritchie will remind Dennis of what he loves about the music industry, prompting him to take an interest in Ritchie’s music career and become his manager.
However, the new job doesn’t impress Dennis’s wife Rita and there are bound to be some fireworks in store.
Ritchie is rumoured to have started filming today and he will appear on our screens in late autumn.

Robin was last seen in Run For Your Wife with Danny Dyer and Sarah Harding.
He is not the first star to make an appearance on the famous Corrie Cobbles. Spice Girl Mel B was a checkout girl in 1993, Status Quo played at Les Battersby’s wedding in 1995 and Prince Charles appeared in a special episode in 2000, marking the 40th anniversary of the show.
Top British actor Ian McKellen also starred on the soap as con artist Mel Hutchwright in 2005.
It’s not Askwith’s first appearance on the show for he played the part of travel rep Aidan when Steve and Eileen visited Malta in 2007.
